For those who don’t know me…. I love the sport of triathlons! I am very passionate about endurance sports and I have high ambitions of becoming a well-known sports nutritionist. I speak and write about sports nutrition and I love training and racing in triathlons. I enjoy working with people and motivating others to reach their dreams, goals and ambitions.
At the age of 12 I could be found in the pool every day from 3:30-6. I was a fish that hated to be out of the water. From high school to college, I swam competitively and among my swimming accomplishments I was NAIA All-American in 100 breastroke (5th place, 2002), 7th in the state in 200 butterfly (2000) and was NAIA All-American Honorable mention in 200 I.M. (2002). After being burnt-out from swimming after my Junior year of college I decided to run Cross Country for my University (Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky). It was then, in 2004, that I fell in love with running. The 5K seemed challenging but I loved to run. My longest distance for running was the 10K which I did in a local road race for fun. I decided to finish my fourth year of college swimming after cross country season was over and I graduated college with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Psychology. Thinking that I wanted to become a Strength and Conditioning coach for Pro football teams, I decided to continue my education at FAU for my masters. Of course I had to move to Florida if I was going to enroll in graduate school. Before moving for graduate school, I worked at a Y as a personal trainer and I really enjoyed taking spin classes. I saw a flyer for a triathlon and I decided to train for it through many spin classes and running on the treadmill. Because I didn’t have a bike, a week before the triathlon I bought a hybrid bike and participated in the sprint triathlon. I won my age group! Unfortunately, I was the only one in my age group and the youngest person in the race. I guess KY wasn’t the place for triathlons at the time. I decided to step up my training by riding my bike everywhere. To the gym, to the store, to friends house’s and to work. With hour spin classes and daily 6-10 mile bike rides I entered an Olympic distance triathlon. I placed 2nd in my age group and it was at that moment that I wanted to do more triathlons. I didn’t know much about the sport but I loved it! Before deciding to take my triathlon training to the next level, I finished my formal education by receiving a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology in Dec. 2005. Due to my intensive education in exercise physiology and extreme passion in sports nutrition, I become very serious with understanding the physiology behind triathlons and nutrition and decided to take my love of triathlons to the next level.
